Section 33:JUNIOR LIVESTOCK--4-H & FFA HORSE SHOW

ENTRY FORMS DUE: Friday, August 15, 2008
DEADLINE FOR LIVESTOCK ARRIVAL: 10:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11,2008
RELEASE TIME: 6:30 p.m., Sunday, September 14, 2008

  1. Limited to members of chapters or clubs residing in Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino Counties and within the boundaries of the Cloverdale School District in Sonoma County. See Local Rule 2
  2. The 4-H & FFA Horse Show adheres to State Rules in Sections I-XII.
  3. Classes are limited to FFA, 4-H Club members, and independent juniors of and residing in Humboldt, Mendocino and Lake Counties and within the boundaries of the Cloverdale School District in Sonoma County who are duly enrolled in a Horse Project and have completed the same.
  4. Exhibitor of horses in Livestock and Horse Show Department will comply with the provisions of the Horse Protection Act of 1970 (P.L. 91-540) and all rules adopted by the United States Secretary of Agriculture to carry out its provision.
  5. Unless other rules are specified, rules and definitions for conducting each class as contained in the rule book of the American Horse Show Association, Inc., will be used as a guideline for this Horse Show, provided they do not conflict with any of the rules and regulations prescribed by the Division of Fairs and Expositions of the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
  6. Original or certified copy of registration required for registered halter classes.
  7. THREE ENTRIES CONSTITUTE A MINIMUM HORSE SHOW CLASS. Where entries are less than minimum at the closing date of entry, the class may be canceled or combined with another class. Entries in canceled classes may be transferred without penalty into another class in the same division. Should entries fall below the minimum after the closing date of entry, a class may be continued but with premiums at the discretion of the management.
  8. SHOWMANSHIP ATTIRE: 4-H uniform, FFA uniform, or short sleeved button-down blouse/shirt and dark/khaki pants with appropriate boots for Independent Junior Exhibitors.
  9. JUNIOR HORESHOW ATTIRE: 4-H uniform or FFA uniform or long sleeved button down white blouse/shirt and dark/khaki pants with appropriate boots for Independent Junior Exhibitors. English attire for junior horse show can be as above or hunt jacket and light colored britches with short sleeved white blouse/shirt and appropriate boots. No chaps allowed in English or Western classes.
  10. Helmets are mandatory for all classes including showmanship. Must wear ASTM/SEI approved helmets at all times when handling a horse. A disqualification from the show will result if at any time an exhibitor is found not wearing a helmet when handling a horse, even if it is inside the stall. To avoid any problems, it is advisable that a helmet be worn at all times in the barn area. Helmet covers or hats made for helmets are allowed.
  11. POST ENTRIES, PHONE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  12. Stalls are reserved for exhibitor entries. Balance allotted on first-come, first serve basis after entry closure. Stall rent does not include feed. Bedding for first day is provided.
  13. NO STALLIONS ALLOWED.
  14. Horses to be on grounds and checked in by 10:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11,2008, 2008. This means picking up horse show number as well as verification of registration number, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the show and forfeiture of entry and stall fees.
